Trainer, Widad Siam, said: “For the first time we launched a course for tailoring at Ein Al Loza branch in Silwan after repetitive requests from the women”, pointing out that the course was organized for beginners / first level, and attended by 15 women, over a period of 9 months, where they were trained on the basics of sewing clothes, recycling them and repairing them.
Siam added: “The course focused on three main points, where participants learned the basics of sewing and the details of the human body and what suits and fits the measurements of each body. They were also given an explanation about sewing machines; some of them even bought sewing machines to practice at home. The second point was to repair clothes such as “shortening, widening, tightening, etc. And finally recycling old clothes and tailoring them to be wearable, as well as renewing old traditional dresses to look modern, or using old clothes for making bags.
